Dear Focus Showcase Participants,
We are excited to see you on July 1 for the Focus Showcase in Williamsburg, VA! Registration for our College Select camp on July 2nd closes Monday, June 27. We will be sending out the schedule as well as team names and numbers for athletes who registered as individuals by email. This information will also be posted on the Showcase page. There are a few things to keep in mind as you prepare for your trip:
Day of Showcase
- Location and Hours: The tournament is located at the Warhill Turf Fields in Williamsburg, VA. The address is 5700 Warhill Trail Williamsburg, VA 23188. You can access this facility off of Longhill Rd or off of Richmond Rd. Games start at 7am this year.
- Weather: The Showcase is a great opportunity for the athletes to gain exposure and we would like everyone to make the most of the day by preparing for the weather. You will be permitted to set up tents outside of the fence on the side of the facilities closest to the concession stands. You can bring umbrellas inside the fences but no tents. You are permitted to bring your own food, drink and ice. We will have water and coolers with ice in them between every 2 fields so that athletes can use it for cool towels. Please plan on bringing a small towel so that your athlete can cool off while on the sideline. If there is any lightning throughout the day within 5 miles of the facility, we will take the necessary break and then start games where we left off (plus warm-up time if necessary) or if you've already played fifteen minutes or more of your game we will move on to the next game after the lightning passes.
- Eating and Drinking: You are permitted to bring your own food and drink and there will be reasonably priced food and drink for sale as well. We will post a menu with prices to the Showcase page this week. You may also order from Panera and they will deliver boxed lunches to the field for athletes and spectators. This order form is posted to the website.
- Registration: We will have registration on June 30th from 6-8p at the Great Wolf Lodge for those who prefer to check in then. The team coach can register the whole team and pick up the t-shirts. Anyone who registered as an individual will have to register themselves. We will also have an early morning registration on the 1st. This will begin at 6am and will be in the registration tent close to the concession stands at the Warhill turf fields.
- Athletes Registered as Individuals: If you registered for the Showcase without a team, you will be placed on a Showcase team based on your age, experience and position. These teams will be emailed and posted ASAP. You should plan on meeting with your team at 6:30a behind the registration tent. There will be signs with team names so just report to the sign that has your team name on it. All of our Showcase teams will have a later first game so that they have some time to get organized and walk through corners, etc. Be sure to wear black shorts and bring black socks.
- Awards: We will have Pool Champions this year! We are going to recognize all of our pool winners this year with medals and pictures at the end of the tournament. There will be a scoreboard with pool results along the vending area. Please stay for the awards ceremony so we can post pictures of Showcase winners on the website!
- Sponsors Tents: Be sure to check out some of our great sponsors during your down time. Tournament sponsors include STX, Longstreth, Aspire Youth Development, The Highlight Reel, Build My Sport and Defender Mouthguards.
- GK Skills Session: At the end of the day we will have our GK skills session where we will run the goalies through a series of drills to showcase GK specific skills.
- Rules: We will be playing FIH Rules, modified to 7 a side. This means the ball has to come out of the circle on corners, there will be 3 back on defensive corners-the rest up at the opposite 16, jewelry is permitted, self starts are permitted, etc. The only exception to normal FIH rules is that we WILL allow googles due to the new high school rule. They are NOT MANDATORY to wear. We will be playing 6 plus a GK per side.
- STX Skills Session: STX will be providing a skills session to every team, please attend!
We are looking forward to another great event on the 1st. Please continue to check the website for more details and look for emails from us throughout the week. Please email any questions to Showcase@FocusFieldHockey.com.

Be seen by coaches!
We are expecting another fantastic tournament this year and already have over 40 college coaches confirmed to attend. We will continue to post updates of this list to the website. To let the coaches know that you are attending, we have posted a Focus College Showcase postcard that you should print and mail out to any coach whom you would like to come see you. Sending these cards encourages new coaches that have not already confirmed their attendance to come to the Focus Showcase. We encourage you to send them out early to all schools that you are interested in. We will follow up with you by email before the tournament to make sure that you contact those coaches again with schedules and other pertinent information so that they can make it a priority to watch you. We provide all coaches with complete rosters and recruiting packets electronically the week before the tournament, and we provide them with hard copies the day of.
As always, the schedules of coaches are subject to change and we can never guarantee the attendance of any specific coach.
